Tempest,RSC (2002)

Directed by Michael Boyd, lighting by  Heather Carson.

The production opened in the round house before a run at the RST. original staged in the round with a promenade section of the audience we used aerialists as the mariners and as the spirits. I began working on the design shortly after 9/11 so the image of a ship of state as an abstracted tower that was blown apart by the storm resonated strongly. the rest of the play took place on the wreckage of this ladder tower.
