I try always to respond to the needs of the play inspired by the text, to work in a collaborative manner with directors, actors and all theatre artists, and am alive to the inventiveness of rehearsal.
After my early training with Peter Brook, I am always looking for ways to create a focussed and charged space, to enhance the actor’s power of storytelling and engage with the imagination of the audience.
My extensive work on Shakespeare plays has given me the opportunity to create simple and poetic spaces in which the actors can bring the play to life rather than the design imposing solutions upon them.
