Bracken Moor in preview

The show has had a really enjoyable tec period , a great example of collaborative working with Polly Teale, the director, and Oli Fenwick our lighting designer. On show where we tread a fine line between naturalism and expressionism, finding the right visual language could have been very difficult ,everybody has been able to share their thoughts and yet we haven’t descended into chaos . At first glance the world of the play seems to be a conventional drawing room , yet gradually the room merges with the scene of a horrible accident, the bottom of a mine. We want that to be revealed gradually and Oli has done a fine job, for the first half  we are barely aware of the edges of the space so the room seems to fade into the darkness, only in the second half does the fact that the room seems to be sinking into an environment created with coal become apparent.
