Dimitry Krymov

I am really delighted that the project we seeded at the RSC for Dimitry and his designer Vera to create a Shakespeare inspired performance has born fruit. the company are over in the UK in Stratford and Edinburgh with a version of the Dream inspired by the Mechanicals play of Pyramus and Phisbe. It is a wonderful show, featuring two giant puppet lovers that the mechanicals bring to life in a touching and chaotic fashion watched by an audience of oligarchs. Much like the Free Belarussian Theatre’s version of Lear earlier this year at the Globe, it shows the full inventive possibilities of a rough rehearsal based aesthetic. I feel both excited and humbled to have been a small part in getting it to happen and it raises questions about how we create our work here, can we be that bold with Boris Godunov that i am working on with Michael Boyd this autumn!
